How your personal history comes into play

As Cardinal Ratzinger, Pope Benedict expressed some hestitation over the notion of limbo. It is a widely held opinion which never received confirmation either via a conciliar statement or a papal one. Therefore the belief in limbo is neither binding nor irreformable. However, the article I have linked goes too far in saying that the Church would add a belief that all unbaptized babies would go to Heaven. The reality of the situation is that we on this side of the divide don't really know. We have to entrust those children to the mercy of God. This is the comment of the present Catechism although I can't recall what paragraph this is.
